Welcome to the Teaching, Learning, and Development Lab

By Dr. Antje von Suchodoletz

Who are we ?

We are a diverse team of researchers, research administrators, statisticians, and students, united by a shared vision: to advance the learning and development of young children and their caregivers. Working with collaborators in the UAE, the Arab Region, and internationally, we conduct innovative research to better understand early childhood development, particularly in regions that are often understudied. Our goal is to optimize early childhood development and education, both at home and in early childhood education centers. [Learn more about us here.]

What do we do ?

The Teaching, Learning, and Development (TLD) Lab aims to deepen our understanding of how children grow and learn through their interactions with caregivers. Led by Dr. Antje, an associate professor of psychology at NYU Abu Dhabi, the lab explores caregivers’ attitudes and beliefs about child-rearing, their caregiving practices, their involvement in activities with their children (such as play and book sharing), and the support they need to help their children reach their developmental potential. Our Methods

We employ a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods , including surveys, interviews, and observations conducted both in our lab and in the field.

Additionally, We utilize cognitive tasks, eye-tracking technology, and biological measures to gain deeper insights into early childhood development.
