Dr. Antje von Suchodoletz
I am a developmental psychologist with a passion for early childhood development and education, inspired by my years as a school psychologist in Switzerland. Witnessing the challenges children and their parents faced during school transitions motivated me to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of Konstanz, Germany, where I focused on children’s school readiness and parental support. During my postdoctoral research at the University of Freiburg, Germany, I conducted my first longitudinal study on school readiness development, observing children and their caregivers in both home and preschool settings.
At NYU Abu Dhabi, I founded the Teaching, Learning, and Development (TLD) Lab to explore caregiver-child interactions, recognizing their critical role in early childhood development. I am particularly fascinated by the dynamics of these interactions—how caregivers and children influence each other and how context and culture shape their experiences.
Leveraging new technologies, my research now delves deeper into the factors that make caregiver-child interactions successful and enriching for children's development and well-being. These findings contribute to enhancing family and child well-being, helping each child reach their full developmental potential.
