Aleksandrina Dimova

Research Assistant

When I first joined Dr. Antje’s lab as a student assistant in the spring of my first year, I could hardly imagine becoming a researcher right after graduation. Over three transformative years as a full-time lab member, I immersed myself in every facet of the research process: conceptualizing projects, collecting and analyzing data, and sharing findings through manuscripts and conference presentations. In addition to contributing to a meta-analysis, I also had the opportunity to work with surveys as well as both observational and physiological data to answer questions related to caregiver-child interactions, emotion co-regulation, and the effect of COVID-19 on Jordanian preschool children's mental health.

Dr. Antje's mentorship was a beacon throughout my journey. In addition to helping me join and manage ongoing lab projects, she encouraged me to explore my independent research interests. Some highlights of my time in the lab include contributing to the setup of the university’s first developmental psychology lab, collaborating with researchers in the UAE, China, Jordan, and the US, and presenting at the SRCD Biennial meeting alongside over 6,500 attendees.

The experience in Dr. Antje’s lab has shaped my professional identity and fostered a passion for research that I will continue to pursue.
