Yared Getachew
Undergraduate Student Researcher
I've had the opportunity to work with Professor Antje for over three years now, both as a student and a research assistant in the Teaching, Learning, and Development Lab. Professor Antje was one of my top choices as a mentor for my senior year capstone project, as she is both an exceptional educator and mentor. Professor Antje has always created a dynamic and supportive environment that fosters both professional and personal development, both evident in her care and dedication to her students in every interaction. I witnessed this first hand when a family emergency necessitated my withdrawal from all classes mid-semester, including her Lab Early Childhood Education course and TLD Lab commitments. Despite the circumstances, Professor Antje consistently checked in, offering support and flexibility as I navigated the administrative process of my leave. Her empathy, understanding, and willingness to accommodate my situation made a challenging time significantly easier. Professor Antje's contagious enthusiasm and unique ability to inspire and motivate are commendable. Her commitment to fostering a collaborative community through initiatives like lab get-togethers and collaboration corners has been instrumental in creating a space for skills exchange within the lab. I'm grateful for her support and excited about the prospect of continuing to work under her mentorship to shape my career.
